E-File Required. Print and Mail Deadline Fast Approaches.

We hope you had a wonderful Holiday, we sure did. Now that business is back in full swing, its time to start thinking about your year end reporting requirements, (if you haven't already) and some upcoming deadlines.
For those of you that are using the E-File Magic 2.0 software to meet your 1098, 1099, 5498, and W-2G reporting requirements, remember that you are required to e-file your forms with our service bureau. The software does NOT support printing the IRS Red Copy A forms, nor will it generate a 1096. Likewise, the IRS will not accept black recipient copies in place of the Red Copy A forms. Fortunately for you, the cost of e-filing with our service bureau is one of the most competitive in the business. When you're ready to e-file, simply click the 'Transmit To E-File Magic' button on the menu pane of the software, and follow the steps we outline. You'll be done in no time.
We'd also like to remind you that the deadline for Printing and Mailing many of the forms we support, like the 1099-MISC form, is fast approaching. If you intend to have us print and mail the forms for you, we need your data by January 23rd 2008. If you provide us with your data later than this day, we cannot guarantee you forms will be mailed by the January 31st 2008 IRS deadline.

Combined Federal/State Program

Many of our clients ask about state reporting requirements and the services we provide for 1099 forms. There are 32 states that participate in the Combined Federal/State Filing(CF/SF) Program. This program supports the sharing of information amongst the IRS and a participating CF/SF state. Our service bureau participates in this program, and the data we generate for transmission to the IRS is formatted accordingly. In order for the IRS to release the information we submit to a participating state, you will need to mail our version of Form 6847 to the IRS which includes E-File Magic's TCC number. Form 6847 gives the IRS permission to release the information to the participating state(s).
There are a number of states, however, that do not participate in this program. We receive quite a few, 'what is required for the other 18 states not participating in the Combined Federal/State File Program?' questions on a day to basis. Unfortunately, we do not track the individual state requirements. Some states do not require data while others want you to send Copy 1. We suggest you contact your nonparticipating state's revenue department to find out their current requirements. Remember E-File Magic supports the generation of Copy 1, so even if the state does not participate in the CF/SF program, but requires Copy 1, you have all the tools you need to accomplish this at your disposal.

Did You Know ?
E-File Magic 2.0 can print the State Copy form, generally Copy 1 for forms such as 1099-MISC.
Once you have entered or imported your recipients into our free software, navigate to the 'Print Recipients' screen. Select your desired form, and in the lower right hand corner you will notice a box that allows you to select the form type you wish to print. Select 'Copy 1' as required, and hit the 'Print' button.
